SUMMARY:California Guitar Trio
DESCRIPTION:A rare chance to experience one of the most innovative and enduring guitar ensembles in the world! \n\n\n\n\nGet Ready for the California Guitar Trio Live! Since forming in 1991\, the California Guitar Trio has forged a musical path that defies boundaries. Their sound seamlessly crisscrosses rock\, jazz\, classical\, and world music\, infused with unexpected detours into surf rock and spaghetti Western themes. The result is a thrilling\, highly original concert experience that is as intellectually rich as it is viscerally exciting. \nComprised of Bert Lams\, Paul Richards\, and Tom Griesgraber\, CGT is celebrated not only for extraordinary musicianship\, but for the deep personal connection they establish with audiences. Their live shows combine dazzling precision\, intricate interplay\, and warm humor\, creating an atmosphere where listeners feel fully immersed—part of the music rather than mere spectators. Stories from the road\, insights into the compositions\, and moments of spontaneous joy make every performance unique. \nOver a career spanning more than 32 years and 2\,000 performances worldwide\, the trio has released 21 albums\, collectively streamed more than 115 million times across major platforms. Each member brings a distinct voice shaped by diverse backgrounds in classical training\, jazz studies\, rock performance\, and the rigorous Guitar Craft discipline pioneered by Robert Fripp. Together\, they form a trio whose collective artistry continues to evolve while remaining deeply committed to exploration\, communication\, and musical storytelling.

SUMMARY:Alpenglow Winter Speaker Series | John Collinson
DESCRIPTION:The Alpenglow Sports Winter Speaker Series presented by North Tahoe Chamber is the largest free community speaker series in the country. Hosting the biggest names in the outdoor industry who share stories about outdoor adventure. With two simple goals: 1) to inspire and motivate mountain athletes to pursue their outdoor dreams and 2) to raise funds for nonprofit organizations making a tangible difference in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee community. \nMeet John Collinson:  The night after skier Johnny Collinson summited Everest\, on his way to becoming the youngest person to climb the Seven Summits at age 17\, he barely slept; he was too busy helping an altitude sick adult rehydrate and recover. The Sherpas called Johnny “white Sherpa” for his high-altitude climbing ability that has been nurtured since age 4\, when he stood atop Mt. Rainier in Washington. Johnny\, his sister Angel (a fellow TNF athlete)\, and his parents Jimmy and Deb Collinson spent 10 summers living out of a ’79 Ford Econoline Van hiking and backpacking around the West and climbing more peaks\, like Shasta and Whitney before Johnny turned six. Without crampons and good boots small enough to fit\, Johnny used tiny Sorels that his dad fitted with construction nail plates\, and could hike 3\,000 feet or about 10 miles a day at a young age. \n\nAngel remembers\, as a kid\, Johnny would say: “Well\, this can’t be as hard as Everest.” But years later\, when he did climb the peak\, he found it relatively easier than many previous mountain challenges. \nAs much as Johnny excels at going up\, it’s skiing down that he’s known for. The same year he climbed the Seven Summits (and skied down three: Denali\, Elbrus\, and Vinson Massif)\, he also won the 2010 Junior Freeskiing Tour overall title. He’s since landed on podiums at several Freeskiing World Tour events and Red Bull big mountain competitions and racked up awards for segments in films by TGR\, Sweetgrass Productions and Sherpas. \n\nDoors at 6PM. Show starts at 7PM\n$15\,000+ in Prizes\n100% for the Headwaters Science Foundation\nFood from MOGROG | NA\, Wine\, and Beer
